Personal

This morning, I’m digging out the few things that are left over from our massive garage sale last summer and getting rid of it all before I start to rationalize and mumble stuff to myself like “I need this Atari 2600! I love Pac Man!”, and stuff it under the stairs when nobody’s looking.
Before last summer, I had a ridiculous amount of toys and collectibles that were boxed up, stuffed in closets, hung from ceilings, tied to the dog’s tail, etc.
Once Cyan was born (last May), I decided to have a sale to make some room, since I knew my toys would soon be overrun by hers anyway. I can still get satisfaction out of adding to the 500+ M&Ms that fill the walls of her playroom though, and will just let her have those when she’s old enough to appreciate the collection without swallowing them.

Daddy’s going to have to start a new collection of something that fits in his new office (note to self: no! stop it! no more stuff! there’s no room!).

I actually pulled out my old eBay sales design template from years ago so I could easily add the items and have my auction sales pages look decent, but then after realizing that there isn’t that much left, I voted against using eBay. I decided that I’ll sell a few of the valuable things items on Craigslist and just find a good home for the rest.
I actually miss selling stuff and meeting customers on eBay, but when you add all the fees associated with eBay, PayPal, and shipping materials (as well as other supplies) combined, you really have to sell stuff with a high markup and a good profit to make it worth your while on a consistent basis. I was always selling low-priced crafty stuff and as a part-time thing, the time vs. profit ratio just wasn’t worth it anymore.

I might get rid of this stuff and use the money on eBay to buy just ONE M&M! Ok, maybe two.
