Networking

My list of social networking site profiles and commitment to regular participation has begun. I was planning on leaving Twitter out of the mix, but after reading several hyped up articles about it lately, I thought I’d at least check it out.

Now, I officially Twhirl and Tweet.

As I was searching for interesting people to follow on Twitter, I saw a post on ZeFrank’s blog about a Twitter color war. Ze’s idea is based on his childhood experiences at camp where all the kids would split into teams randomly by color and play tug of war, egg toss, and other fantastically silly games. He wanted to try and create an online version using Twitter and the idea seems to have quickly become ridiculously popular in only a few days.

This seemed pretty exciting to me for 2 reasons:

One, I thought that Twitter would bore me and I would last less than a day if it was going to be nothing more than reading posts like “cutting my toenails“, “eating cold cuts“, etc.
Two, I’m a nerd.

If you haven’t heard of it, check out the Color War 2008 website for details, and choose a team.
The first game is Rock, Paper, Scissors, and I joined the VeryGreenTeam and threw down Rock!

I think Twitter was dumb in the beginning, but later when I started my site I quickly learned the value of social networks. Nice Article, Keep it up.

    Hey Alex,

Yeah, I think it also makes a difference who you are following. Aside from the chatter, there’s a lot of great info being posted regularly from some “tweeters” as well.

    Thanks for stopping by!
