Blogging

This Isn’t Another Wrap Up!

I was going to call this post “Mid-August Wrap Up”, but I figured that I would be the only one that found that humorous (the last you heard from me was a mid-July wrap up)

Today marks the day that I will start to be around more regularly. Things are still chaotic with other projects that are consuming large amounts of my time, so I can’t commit to posting 8 times daily just yet. However, the 10-20 day hiatus format is now history.

Speaking of hiatus’, you may have heard rumors of my ebook project with the tentative title; The 10-Day Hiatus: Sporadic Blogging Secrets Unleashed. Even though I am now beyond that stage of blogging here at SuiteJ.com, I may still UNLEASH the product, so stay tuned!

The magical strategies of sporadic blog posting, adding irrelevant post content, avoiding visitor comments, and implementing what I like to call “Ghost Town Status” need to be exposed!

After all, these secrets are what landed me a PR2 (from PR0) in the last Google PageRank update. I also gained several new subscribers and only one was a family member!

The New Site Theme And Layout:

As you can see, I have rearranged my layout and customized a new theme. To be honest, I wanted to work longer on the visual, but I needed to just get it rolling and start doing some posts before you guys started to think that I don’t love you anymore.

Let me know what you think of the new look compared to the old layout. I’ll be adding more features, and little tweaks here and there as time goes by, so suggestions are welcome.

I’m still deciding how to set up the category/archives, so bear with me on that. I’m considering not showing the categories at all, but having them available on the archives page. I’m not a big fan of a long list of categories in the sidebar. What do you guys think?

Also, I haven’t had time to litter my sidebar with 125 x 125 ads and other affiliate links. Don’t be mad!

What’s Coming Up?

I’m planning on adding weekly themed posts here that will each focus on one aspect of what I do regularly.

Since more and more of my time is being dedicated to website flipping lately, that’s pretty much guaranteed to be a regular subject. So, if you’re currently mutating into a flip fanatic like me, you will have something to look forward to.

Most of the content here will relate to my business and online income, which includes design, affiliate marketing, website flipping, and a little bit of everything that falls under the Internet Marketing umbrella. However, there will be times when posts get a little personal and off the beaten path. I mean, how could I never mention my daughter, Cyan?

In a nutshell, my aim is to share ideas and strategies with like-minded Internet marketers. Although I make a living online, I have no intention of turning this into yet aother typical make money online blog. This is more like my rec room, and I’m inviting you guys over for a beer (or a coffee). I’m here to hang out and learn from you too. I’m fairly new in a lot of areas, so hit me up, comment, and share your thoughts!

Awesome redesign. It’s much better and neater than the previous one in my opinion. The sidebar is now fully utilized for ease of navigation.

I’m new in your community and I’ll be back for more. By the way, may I just suggest that you have the option to ’subscribe to comment’ on your blog so that it’ll be easier for us to keep updated with the latest response?

    Just my 4…

    Yan

  2. Normal Joe Says:

I like it Jay, looking good! Glad you stayed with the character too…gotta love the big head man!

Seriously, the layout is clean, though I thought the other one was clean too. I do like this one a bit better, I love the ” over 37 served” hahaha.

Looking forward to more from you buddy.

  3. Awesome affiliate marketing tips, tricks and techniques Says:

First of all, totally digging the new look bro. Nice job Jay. It is going to be good having you posting here on a more regualr basis and I do look forward to the bloggin hiatus revealed ebook. Awesome!

I have two observations I feel worthy of mentioning. First of all, unless I am just being stupid, how do I get back to your home page? and secondly….whats that growing out of your coffee cup? Is this another go green blog?

    Smart blog!

  4. The Affiliate Post Says:

and…not only do I say ‘first of all’ a lot but I just read your about page too.

“This is where you come in, and my new journey begins — not from rags to riches, but from silver to gold.”

You win my quote of the day with that one!!!!!

  5. Chelle Says:

Hey it already looks better! And you even kept the clouds! I laugh though, everyone says now “this is not another mmo blog”…I don’t mind, between the 300 or so mmo and non-mmo blogs I read once in awhile i learn some pretty neat tricks :) A little offbeat can be fun too.

  6. Jay Says:

@Yan: Thanks! Yeah, I agree on adding “subscribe to comments”. I’m probably going to add comment luv and a couple other features as well.

@Joe: Thanks dude! I’m glad you liked the “Over 37 Served”. What about the lighthouse man? That’s reppin’ my hometown. It was a small fishing town in Nova Scotia, Canada and the lighthouse takes me back! lol

@AP: Free copy for you when the eBook comes out my friend! lol. Leave it to you to point out the home button. Right now, it’s only on the bottom of the page. I was thinking of making my big head the home button, and you just have to “discover it” on your own! lol

The “coffee cup” is a plant holder man. lol. I didn’t know what to put on the shelf yet, ok? Sheesh! ;)

Glad you liked the quote ;)

@Chelle (Is it “Shell, or “Shelley”?), thanks for coming back. Yeah, gotta keep my head in the clouds!

I know what you mean on all the new bloggers claiming “not another MMO” blog, but you’ll have to come back to see what I mean. I should have added not another “typical” MMO blog. This is as much a personal hang out spot for me as it is business. My business and personal life are intertwined. Plus, I also meant that you won’t see the site littered with MMO ads, etc. Not saying I’ll never have an affiliate link here, but honestly, I’m using this site to document what I do and network with you guys, not convince you to buy stuff. :)

So, I’ll have a hot coffee waiting for you next time. ;)

    Cheers everyone!
    Thanks again for comin’ back!
    Jay

  7. The Affiliate Post Says:

@ Jay: Looks somewhat like one of those plants you get out in BC!

and….do you care to share the over 37 served joke for us ignorant Englishmen?

  8. Jay Says:

@AP: You know the “golden arches” have over 99 billion served?

SuiteJ.com boasts over 37 satisfied (or at the very least, sent off feeling moderately indifferent) visitors to date.

It’s one part sarcasm, one part self-deprecation, one part late night attempt at humor.

The greenery is just your average house plant. Honest. lol

  9. The Affiliate Post Says:

ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding! LOL ok, I am with you now, albeit entirely too late, but I gotcha.

When I was in the not so fine state of Indiana I was actually asked if we had “golden arches” in England! I laughed so hard and told them that there was one that I knew of but that was in London and we only went on special occasions.

  10. Missy Says:

Looking good, looking mighty mighty nice. Good job, Jay. Damn, i wish i had some skillz. Design and programming skillz, that is.

Look forward to regular posts from you, and by regular i mean weekly. I’m not one to talk, as i cant do daily, i try, but i dont like HAVING to do it, so i rebel. LOL.

I’ve been doing half way decent though, updating G34 Media, Groovy Vegetarian, Bloggers Search, plus my day job posts. Not too bad, considering that is 6 posts (sort of daily). Well i do try.

I’m going to be sending you an email perhaps later today, on sites sales help. There are 3 to 5 sites, i’m hoping you can help me sell.

I sold one today, a small one, for less than $100. But i did it. So far, so good. Hopefully, i wont get scammed like last time.

Look forward to your updates, and sweeeeeeet job on the new design.

    Missy Miss.

  11. Missy Says:

I second AP, i cant find my way back to homepage. I’m lost, help. hahaha.

Wait, i see an itsy bitsy teenie weenie link way down yonder at the bottom of your site. What does it read?

    HOME.

    (priceless)

  12. Jay Says:

@AP: Glad the bell is dingin’ my friend! LOL @ the golden arches.

@Missy: Hey, thanks for kind words. I wanted to add different design elements, but I just couldn’t keep it waiting any longer.

Great job on the sale! Was it SitePoint? That’s what it’s about, just getting them done/sold! Even selling one under $100 has probably boosted not only your confidence, but your desire to sell more. :)

Cool on the email. I’m flattered that you’d want my help. :)

LOL@ the Home comments guys. I don’t want you guys to go “home”. I want you to stay here! Drink coffee with me! Eat M&Ms!

Ok, Ok, I’ll add a home button somewhere. I’ll get some comment luv happening too asap.

    Cheers!
    Jay

  13. Fourth Floor Marketing Says:

Well this is my first time happening upon this blog so it is a very new layout for me. It looks quite good, Jay. I like the infusion of Gravatars into the comment section.

Starting from square one and documenting the journey to success is nothing new on the web. Do a quick Google search for "make money online" and you'll be overwhelmed with a vast library of people following the supposed path to riches. Even though I've been making a full-time living online since the year 2000, I cannot offer you such a narrative. Why?...(read more)
